Our Upcycled Materials
We have made the choice of upcyling: we only use existing stocks from French and Italian luxury houses and carefully choose our materials for a perfect fit, adapted to the style of the piece. To go further, we have chosen to ban polyester and polyamide from our materials so as not to participate in the phenomenon of micro-plastic pollution. Discover our "upcycled" materials.
Wool Grain de Poudre
A little thicker and more matte than our first black wool grain de poudre, this grain de poudre is made of 100% wool and comes from Japan. Like all our fabrics, it comes from dormant stocks of a major luxury house. The grain de poudre is a noble fabric with a matte appearance, woven in finely combed wool yarns. It is the fabric par excellence for tuxedos and evening wear.
Wool Grain de Poudre
Also called Barathea, grain de poudre is a noble fabric with a matte appearance, woven in finely combed wool yarns, sometimes mixed with mohair. It is the fabric par excellence for tuxedos and tailcoats as well as for evening blazers. We have chosen an upcycled powder grain from Nona Source: it is made of 100% wool and comes from Italy. The wool gives it a very elegant appearance, with a contemporary matte finish - thin enough to allow freedom of movement in the material and thick enough to guarantee a perfect fit.
Silk Duchess Satin
Duchess satin is a fabric called "satin weave" with a smooth and shiny appearance. Contrary to some popular belief, satin is not always made of silk and there are many synthetic satins, mainly made of polyester. Our satin is an upcycled silk duchess satin at Nona Source: it is made of 100% silk and comes from Italy. Its thickness gives it a lot of hold and its noble material gives it an elegant shiny finish.
Wool Gabardine
Naturally stretchy and waterproof, gabardine is a fabric with a very tight weave which makes it robust. Made to last over time and soften over the years, gabardine is particularly suitable for jackets and coats. We chose an upcycled wool gabardine from Nona Source: made from 100% virgin wool and woven in Italy.
Wool Twill
Twill is a fabric weave similar to gabardine, Facettes Studio's favorite material, but with a more flexible appearance. We chose a black wool twill that is finer and lighter than our black wool gabardine in order to complete our wardrobe with a material that is more suitable for mid-season or summer evenings. Coming from dormant stocks from a luxury house, our black wool twill is made from 100% wool and woven in Japan. It is both soft and elegant, for comfortable pieces that we like to wear often.
Stretch and Waterproof Wool Gabardine
Naturally stretchy and waterproof, gabardine is a fabric with a very tight weave which makes it robust. Made to last over time and soften over the years, gabardine is particularly suitable for jackets and coats. We chose an upcycled wool gabardine from Nona Source: made of 99% virgin wool with 1% elastane and woven in Italy.
Linen and Silk Canvas
Canvas is one of the oldest and simplest fabric weaves, it is also one of the strongest. Here made of linen and silk and with a slightly irregular appearance, it can be both casual and dressy but always elegant. We chose this off-white linen and silk canvas woven in Italy and from dormant stocks of a luxury house. This canvas is thick enough not to be too transparent but remains thin so it is not completely opaque.
GOTS Linen Canvas
Naturally breathable and temperature-regulating, linen is woven into a supple and elegant canvas. Linen is one of the most ecological materials available: it requires very little water and no pesticides to grow. Here labeled GOTS and of course always upcycled, this navy blue linen fabric is one of our fabrics which has the lowest environmental impact. GOTS certification guarantees environmentally friendly production and production processes, respect and improvement of working conditions, promotion of the use of organic fibers, banning of dangerous inputs such as toxic heavy metals , aromatic solvents... We chose a linen fabric from dormant stocks woven in Italy.
Linen and Viscose Twill
Naturally breathable and heat-regulating, the linen is woven here in a twill that is both flexible and robust. Warming in winter and refreshing in summer, linen can accompany you in all seasons. We have chosen an upcycled linen and viscose twill from Nona Source: it is made of 70% linen and 30% viscose and was woven in Italy. Blended with viscose, linen will wrinkle less than if the fabric was 100% linen. Viscose is an artificial, non-synthetic material: made from bamboo pulp, so it does not contribute to micro-plastic pollution. However, viscose is typically best avoided, as its manufacturing process is chemical-intensive and bamboo production is generally opaque. Our twill is upcycled, i.e. we give life to dormant stocks that had already been produced.
Wool Gabardine
Naturally stretchy and waterproof, gabardine is a fabric with a very tight weave which makes it robust. Made to last over time and to soften over the years, gabardine is particularly suitable for jackets and coats. We chose an upcycled wool gabardine from Nona Source: made from 100% virgin wool and woven in Italy. Off-white, more elegant than pure white, this gabardine is thick enough not to be transparent.
Viscose Cady Crepe
Cady crepe is a fabric that is both supple and quite thick, with a dry feel, for an elegant matte appearance. We chose an upcycled crepe cady at Nona Source: it is made of 100% viscose and was woven in Italy. Viscose is an artificial chemical material made from wood fibers. Ideally, the viscose we would have liked to use would have been labeled to guarantee that the tree pulp used comes from PEFC, FSE or FSC certified forests. However, our viscose crepe cady remains upcycled, that is to say that we give life to dormant stocks already produced, and viscose does not contribute to micro-plastic pollution.
