What material should you choose for your tuxedo?
The traditional materials for the tuxedo include wool grain, also known as barathea wool, and a satin collar. Contrary to popular belief, satin is not always made of silk and there are many synthetic satins, mainly made of polyester. For our tuxedo collars, we selected upcycled duchess silk satin for a more sustainable choice.
Also known as Barathea, grain de poudre is a noble fabric with a matte appearance, woven from finely combed wool threads, sometimes blended with mohair. It is the fabric par excellence for tuxedos, tailcoats, and evening blazers. We selected an upcycled grain de poudre from Nona Source, made of 100% wool and sourced from Italy. The wool provides a sophisticated appearance with a contemporary matte finish, fine enough to allow freedom of movement, yet thick enough to ensure a perfect fit.
